Dewey C. Newton was born on June 10, 1915. He was the son of William Carson Newton and Ida May Peck Newton. He resided in Holt County, Nebraska prior to the war. Dewey served as a Sergeant and Engineer on C-109 #42-51921, 1345th Army Air Force Base Unit, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

C-109 #42-51921, with a crew of 5, was involved in a mid-air collision with B-24D #42-40875 during either takeoff or landing at Luliang, China. The entire crew was lost in this crash. Dewey was declared "Missing In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash during the war. He is now buried in the Coleridge Cemetery, Coleridge, Cedar County, Nebraska, USA.

Sgt Newton was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
