Clarence I. Anderson was born in 1920 in Pennsylvania. He resided in King County, Washington prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 17, 1941 in Seattle, Washington. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Carpenter and also as Single, without dependents. Clarence served as a Private and Radio Operator on C-87 #43-30593, India-China Wing, Air Transport Command, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
C-87 #43-30593 took off from Jorhat, India on a transport mission to Chengtu, China. They never arrived at their destination and went missing somewhere in either India or China during the war. He was declared "Missing in Action" on May 15, 1944 and is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is also commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
