Nathan Paul Abel was born on August 29, 1917. He was the son of Perry Kees Abel and Florence Whatley Abel. He served in the Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. Nathan died on September 15, 1943 at the age of 26 and is now buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
