Citation for Silver Star-Missing in Action:
For gallantry in action in the vicinity of Butgenbach, Belgium, 22 December 1944. When his company's defenses were attacked by enemy armor and infantry, Private Honea, despite an intense cannon, machine-gun, and small arms barrage, fearlessly remained at his post and directed accurate and heavy rifle fire upon the hostile troops. Altough his position was overrun in the fierce assault, he courageously continued firing and closed agressively with the foe. As a result of his gallant actions, Private Honea has been reported missing in action.
