Ishmael Mansfield “Friday” Love, Jr. was born on June 1, 1923 in Davidson County, Tennessee. He was the son of Ishmael Mansfield Love and Bertie Pearl Westerman Love. Entering the service in May 1944, Ishmael trained at Camp Croft, SC and Fort Meade, MD, before going overseas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on January 17, 1945 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
