Chester Raymond Brown was born on March 22, 1923 in Fosston, Polk County, Minnesota. He was the son of Walter Brown and Ella Olson Brown. Chester served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was taken prisoner of war on the same day of his death. At that time, his unit was fighting in the vicinity of Vicht, Germany. He is now buried in Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Netherlands.
