Seth S. Botts entered the military service in Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Captain in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on January 26, 1945 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces on 22 November 1944. Captain Botts' outstanding leadership, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 1st Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
