Edgar D. Bowers was born on June 9, 1921 in North Carolina. He was the son of John Tyra Bowers and Fannie Cleary Bowers. Edgar served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on January 15, 1945 in Belgium at the age of 23 and is now buried in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Traphill, Wilkes County, North Carolina, USA.
