William Whitson Ross was born on October 12, 1913 in Weleetka, Okfuskee County, Oklahoma. He entered the military service on May 12, 1944, receiving training at Ft. Sill and Ft. McCclellan, Alabama, before being assigned to overseas duty. He graduated from Weturnka high school where be was active in 4-H club work. William served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on January 24, 1945 in Belgium at the age of 31 and is now buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weleetka, Okfuskee County, Oklahoma, USA.
