Oscar Stanley was born on February 14, 1918 in Pine Hill, Scott County, Tennessee. He was the son of Silas L. Stanley and Etta L. Reed Stanley. He enlisted in the Infantry Feb. 27, 1940. He has been overseas fighting for this country since July, 1942. Oscar served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Second Lieutenant in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on January 25, 1945 in Belgium and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
