Donald W. Bowen was born on May 30, 1918 in Eckley, Yuma County, Colorado. He was the son of William A. Bowen and Ida May Lamm Bowen. Donald was called into service by the Boulder draft board on March 22, 1944 and served as Private in the 16th Infantry Regiment. He was Killed in Action on January 19, 1945 in Belgium at the age of 26 and is now buried in Green Mountain Cemetery, Boulder, Boulder County, Colorado, USA.
