Carl S. Kilmore was born on September 19, 1922. He entered the military service on January 2, 1943 and received his basic training at Camp Hood, Tex. He served 19 months overseas with the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. While overseas, he saw active duty in Casablanca, North Africa, Sicily, England, Belgium and Germany. While on duty in Sicily, he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. Carl served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on November 29, 1944 at the age of 22 and is now buried in Mount Rose Cemetery, York, York County, Pennsylvania, USA.
