Butler Orlen �Ollie� Bailes was born on March 24, 1907 in Limestone County, Alabama. He was the son of Wiley V. Bailes and Evelyn Lena Watkins Bailes. Butler was employed in the shop of The Courier for many years as an all-around printer and was with the Huntsville Times when he resigned to volunteer in the Army. He served with the anti-tank division of the First Army and was 37 years old at the time of his death. He was Killed in Action on October 14, 1944 and is now buried in Athens City Cemetery, Athens, Limestone County, Alabama, USA.
