Victor A. Markwardt was born on September 9, 1916 in Lyons, Burleson County, Texas. He was the son of Adolph August Markwardt and Olga Agnes Lena Maass Markwardt. Victor served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 15, 1944 in France at the age of 27 and is now buried in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Malone, Hill County, Texas, USA.
