Harry O. Stewart was born on August 6, 1924. He was the son of Charles Clinton Stewart and Sylvia Ingles Stewart. Harry served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division and participated in the D-Day landing on Omaha Beach. His assault platoon formed part of the first wave in Operation Neptune, coming ashore about 6.40 am. By noon, all the officers in his company had been killed or wounded. He is now buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Mason, Mason County, West Virginia, USA.
