Charles Robert “Bobbie” Dye was born on December 15, 1921 in Central Lake, Antrim County, Michigan. He attended the local schools and in 1941 went to Flint where he was employed and where he married Miss Rosa Barns on Sep. 20,1941. In June, 1947, Charles' wife remarried to Roman Woldanski. He enlisted in the service on May 20,1943 and as a radioman with Co. G of the 26th Infantry, he was sent overseas in Nov. of the same year. On June 9, "Bob" was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was Killed in Action on June 26, 1944 in France when he volenteered to go out and repair his company's communication equipment while doing his work. He is now buried in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake, Antrim County, Michigan, USA.
