Silbert P. Greene was born on October 15, 1918 in Bandytown, Boone County, West Virginia. He was the son of Lomer Leslie Green and Zona Miller Green. Silbert served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France at the age of 25 and is now buried in Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
