Arthur L. Mega was born on October 6, 1918 in Kings County (Brooklyn), New York. He attended St. Edmund's Parochial School and, after graduating St. Francis Preparatory School went to Brooklyn College for one year. Before entering the army in the Spring of 1942 he was employed by the St. Regis Paper Company. Most of his military training was received at Fort Bragg, N. C. He went overseas in July, 1942, and before the invasion of France participated in the African and Sicilian Campaigns. Arthur served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade in the 5th Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He died on July 19, 1944 at the age of 25 in France and is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry monument in Omaha Beach, France and ranked as a Corporal.
