John S. Kersey was born on June 15, 1920 in Saint Maries, Benewah County, Idaho. He was the son of John W. Kersey and Elizabeth Jane Skelton Kersey. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a First Lieutenant in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France and is now buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saint Maries, Benewah County, Idaho, USA.
