Lyman Foster Pell was born on July 9, 1895 in Thetford Center, Orange County, Vermont. He was the son of Lyman Pierce and Mary Eva (Carey) Pell. He enlisted in the Army on June 22, 1916 and entered the federal service on April 3, 1917. Originally, he was the 1st Vt Inf and was transferred to Company E, 101st Ammunition Train, 26th Div. He went overseas on October 3, 1917 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant. He was Killed in Action on October 23, 1918 in France and is now buried in Hillside Cemetery, Norwich, Windsor County, Vermont, USA.
