William James Cumming was born on January 27, 1895. He was the son of James Cumming and Margaret Hendry Cumming. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 101st Sanitary Train, 26th Infantry Division. He died on January 6, 1918 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Fairlawn Cemetery, Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA.
