Verne O. Reed was born in 1898. He was the son of Orrin S. Reed and Mabel L. Reed. He entered the military service in Iowa and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in the 101st Field Signal Battalion, 26th Infantry Division. He died on July 21, 1918 and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Bloomfield IOOF Cemetery, Bloomfield, Davis County, Iowa, USA.
