Ralph Wellington Shirley was born on May 28, 1896 in Conway, Carroll County, New Hampshire. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in Company F, 101st Engineer Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 13, 1918 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fryeburg, Oxford County, Maine, USA.
