James McClelland Shannon was born on October 17, 1896. He was the son of Robert Frew Shannon and Emma Fleming Shannon. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in Company C, 101st Engineer Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on May 31, 1918 at the age of 21 and is now buried in Sewickley Cemetery, Sewickley, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA.
