Harold Watson Estey was born on October 7, 1872 in Rome, Oneida County, New York. He was the son of Aaron Hartt Estey and Louisa Jane Watson Estey. He entered the military service in Massachusetts and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Major in the 101st Engineer Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He sailed for France in September 1918 but he died of pneumonia on October 29, 1918 in Dunkirk, France at the age of 46. He is now buried in Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France.
