Robert S. Cross was born on June 26, 1899. He entered the military service in Maine and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 101st Engineer Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He died on March 24, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France. He also has a cenotaph located in High Street Cemetery, Bridgton, Cumberland County, Maine, USA.
