Carroll Dalton Harpell was born on February 21, 1895 in Jeddore Oyster Ponds, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, Canada. He enlisted in the Army on June 19, 1916 with Troop A., 1st Cav., N.H.N.G. and was transferred to Co. B, 103d M.G. Bn., 26th Div. He served on Mexican border in 1916 and was promoted to Corporal on February 4, 1917 and to Sergeant on August 9, 1917. He went overseas on October 3, 1917 but died from his wounds received in battle in France on July 18, 1918 and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France.
