Samuel Arnesburg Frederick was born on August 25, 1894 in Braddock, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Samuel H. Frederick and Wilhelmina Frederick. He entered the service on September 7, 1917 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company A, 103rd Machine Gun Battalion, 26th Infantry Division. He received his training at Camp Devens and Westfield, Mass., and landed in France October 30, 1917. He was wounded July 1, 1918 and spent six weeks in one of the Base Hospitals. He was Killed in Action on November 10, 1918 in Verdun, France at the age of 24 and is now buried in Monongahela Cemetery, Braddock Hills, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA.
