Dwight Hakes Wickwire was born on July 27, 1896 in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Army on April 16, 1917 at New Haven, CT. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company D, 102nd Machine Gun Battalion, 26th Infantry Division. He died on October 13, 1918, of septicaema and meningitis and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France.
