Albert Fresell was born on May 10, 1895 in Rutland, Rutland County, Vermont. He was the son of George E. Fresell and Matilda H. Fresell. He attended the public graded schools and the Rutland high school. At the completion of his education he went to work for the F.R. Patch Manufacturing company to learn the trade of machinist, after which he remained in the employ of the concern until February, 1917. Then he went to New York where he held a similar position about five months. He came back to Rutland and enlisted in company A, 1st Vermont Infantry, on June 28, 1917, going from the city to Fort Ethan Allen at Burlington. When the regiment was divided he was with the boys who went to Framingham, Mass., where Massachusetts troops and Vermont men were combined to form company A, 102d machine gun battalion of the 26th division which went overseas in September, 1917. He was Killed in Action on September 12, 1918 in France at the age of 23 and is now buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Rutland, Rutland County, Vermont, USA.
