Andrew Smith Wellington was born on May 4, 1893 in Pittsfield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Marshall S. Wellington and Mabel White Wellington. He was an 1918 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company C, 101st Machine Gun Battalion, 26th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 25, 1918 at Truguy Woods, France at the age of 25 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
