Lorne L. Cupples was born on Jan. 12, 1882. He enlisted in R. 0. T. C. at Plattsburg on Aug. 28, 1917. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on Nov. 27, 1917, and was assigned to 303d M. G. Bn., 76th Div. at Camp Devens. He went to England on July 22, 1918 and to France shortly after. He served during the World War I in the 101st Machine Gun Battalion, 26th Infantry Division. He was wounded on Oct. 23, 1918 in Brabant Wood north of Verdun and died in hospital at Glorieux, France on November 2, 1918. He is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
