Paul Watson Butler was born on May 6, 1898 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. He enlisted in the Army on April 4, 1917 in West Hardtford, Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in the 101st Machine Gun Battalion, 26th Infantry Division. He died on July 25, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
