William Alfred Bruton was born on July 18, 1895 in Greenfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Army on July 28, 1917 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 101st Machine Gun Battalion, 26th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 25, 1918 in France at the age of 23 and is now buried in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA.
