Emerson Maple was born on December 16, 1898 in Vermont. He was the son of Frank John Maple and Charlotte Lyons Maple. He enlisted in the Army on April 6, 1917 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Battery D, 103rd Field Artillery Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 30, 1918 in Chateau-Thierry, France at the age of 19 and is now buried in Chester Village Cemetery, Chester, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA.
