Wilmer Hughes Eicke was born in 1892 in Narragansett Pier, Washington County, Rhode Island. He was educated in the public schools there and was graduated from the South Kingston high school in 1911, and from Brown University in 1915. Private Eicke enlisted in July 1917 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Battery C, 103rd Field Artillery Regiment, 26th Infantry Division with which he later went overseas. He received his early training at Boxford, Mass. He was Killed in Action on October 24, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
