George Reeves Anderson, Jr. was born in Omaha, Ga. on December 31, 1892, son of George Reeves Anderson and Vernie Rivers Winston Cox. He graduated from the Ardmore high school, and the Oklahoma University at Norman. He enlisted on May 11, 1917, and trained at Ft. Logan H. Roots, Little Rock, Ark. He sailed for France with Battery C, 102nd Field Artillery, 26th Division, in September. He fought in the battles of Chemin des Dames, Xizvey, Marveson, Second Battle of the Marne and at Schesprey. He was killed by a shell on July 22, 1918 at Chateau Thierry while on liaison duty, locating German gun positions. In honor of him, George Reeves Anderson Post was named after him. He is now buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma, USA.
