George Henry Tanner was born on November 21, 1895 in East Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in the 101st Field Artillery Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He died on August 1, 1918 at the age of 22 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
