Ellery Peabody, Jr. was born on April 23, 1896 in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Ellery Peabody and Harriet Avery Peabody. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in the 101st Field Artillery Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He died on October 23, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
