James J. Murphy was born on January 10, 1890. He was the son of James J. Murphy and Margaret Murphy. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in Battery B, 101st Field Artillery Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on August 1, 1918 at the age of 28 and is now buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, USA.
