Henry Gordon Ellis was born on March 31, 1897 in Beverly, Essex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Ernest Winfred Ellis and Sadie E. Wadleigh Ellis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I in HQ Company, 51st Infantry Brigade. He was Killed in Action on August 1, 1918 in Chateau-Thierry, France at the age of 21 and is now buried in Central Cemetery, Beverly, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA.
