Gordon Alfred Sutherland was born on September 14, 1898. He was the son of Peter Sutherland and Agnes Brodie Sutherland. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company B, 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on June 17, 1918 in France at the age of 19 and is now buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, USA.
