William Philip Schoenfeld was born on November 24, 1892 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. He was the son of Louis Schoenfeld and Louisa Schmalz Schoenfeld. He fought for the American forces in World War I with the 104th Infantry in Company M. He was gassed to death at Chateau Thierry in Aisne, France in 1918 when he was 25 years old. Schoenfeld was repatriated to the United States and interred at Spring Grove Cemetery in 1921.
