Aleksander Okula was born in 1894 in Russia. He entered the military service in Connecticut and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on October 20, 1918 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. His name is commemorated on the Belleau Church tablet in France but his name is inscribed as Alexander.
