When Roual Walfred Nordquist was born on December 23, 1894, in Quincy, Massachusetts, his father, Nils, was 30 and his mother, Hannah, was 28. He had one brother and one sister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a First Sergeant in Company C, 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 in Chateau-Thierry, France at the age of 23. He has a memorial in Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA but is unknown if he was buried there.
