Rayburn B. Melendy was born in Quincy, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Lieutenant in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on November 1, 1918 in Argonne, France but his current burial place is unknown.
