Arthur Daniel Kemplin was born on November 17, 1893 in Worthington, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Henry C. and Mary E. (Granger) Kemplin. He served on the Mexican boarder, and before enlisting was employed by the L. S. Starrett Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company E, 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on July 24, 1918 at the age of 24 and is now buried in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.
