Stafford James Hager was born on December 30, 1892 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was the son of William H. Hager and Mary Wilford Hager. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on September 13, 1918 in France at the age of 25 and is now buried in Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA.
