When Harold C. Goodrich was born on January 9, 1897, in Lake, Indiana, his father, Charles, was 34 and his mother, Caroline, was 29. He had three brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on July 18, 1918 in France at the age of 20 and is now buried in Merrillville Cemetery, Merrillville, Lake County, Indiana, USA.
