Narcisse Amedee DeRoy was born on February 4, 1895 in Holyoke, Hampden County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Narcisse Amedee DeRoy and Eluminée P. Tremblay Deroy. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on July 20, 1918 and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France. There is also a plaque within the cemetery that honors him and his fellow comrades from Holyoke that died in WW1. Lastly, a park in Holyoke is named after Narcisse. It is located in front of the former West Street School along Samoset Street. The school is now called Kelly School. The memorial stone and plaque to him is within the park.
